"It's strange, making a wee film about your own neck of the woods. Or bog, in our case, as Shetland is virtually treeless and very boggy indeed. It gives you a new perspective on what you can sometimes take for granted, and I must say that when we'd finished shooting my wee bit for Scottish Passport, I sat back and thought: "Yes! THAT'S why I live here..."

"There were some very funny moments during the filming, but I have sworn never to reveal what happened to one of the crew during the boat trip. Never! The barbecue on the beach was an interesting exercise in logistics, involving an entire herd of cattle having to be moved from the adjacent field. And then there was the business of trying to cool down the red-hot cast iron barbecue so it could be taken back in the van...whose idea was it to throw the thing in the sea?

"As for us as a family, we had a great time last summer at a campsite in France, and I think that's what we'll be tackling again next year. With plenty of time off for my new passion, ideally suited to Shetland: mountain biking along the old peat roads."

"Bulgaria isn't a holiday destination that springs to mind when you're trawling through the brochures for a sunshine break.  However I had a great trip there with the Passport team in the summer.  Golden Sands on the Black Sea coast was, in my book, a surprisingly good resort that wasn't too commercialised.  It was almost stuck in a time warp and reminded me of family holdays to Spain twenty years ago before all the hard core tourism invaded.  It was clean, relatively cheap and the locals were delightful and friendly.  The aqua park we visited was brand spanking new and there were loads of fun to be had on the different slides and water pools.

"We also visited Bansko in the South West near the Pirin Mountains.  It's a really chilled out town with cows wandering around the streets and lots of locals people watching and chewing the fat in the outdoor cafes.  Although we were there in the summer it's really geared up as a ski resort and they were building some new runs while we were there;  a good sign that it's developing and becoming more popular.  So, if you want to hit the slopes in a more novel destination with tremendous mountain views, delicious local wine and a touch of charm at a reasonable price, then the secret's out!"

"Filming on location can be a stressful business at the best of time. So the prospect of  filming on the streets of New York with my family made me more than a little nervous. However, I have to say, it was one of the best filming trips of my life. Post 9/11, New Yorkers are so welcoming and pleased to have positive publicity. Add to that a chance meeting on location with Robert de Niro and you have the Passport trip of a lifetime. Don't miss it."

"Growing up in Orkney, I suppose I've got more salt in my blood than most, so the chance to go sailing with Passport was one I relished.  Also, coming from such a rural community fosters a strong desire to travel, but no matter where I go in the world - from University in America to spending two years living and working in Australia - there's no place like home, and this trip not only re-lit my passion for sailing but also for the spectacular beauty of our homeland."

"When Passport asked me to take in a Whisky tasting tour of Speyside I jumped at the chance, even though it was the first time I'd been in the countryside since 1983.  They don't have many KFC's out there do they?  It was great to sample some of the best whiskies ever made, but I did feel that the 7,000 year old Mucklemankie would have benefited from a splash of coca cola. Things seemed to be going very well, but I was sorely disappointed when, on the 37th take of me tasting the Glenfiddichs, the director realised I was deliberately getting the words wrong..."
